Project 537
The Coronary Care Research Fund is supporting a two-year study of Pathogenesis of Acute Stress Induced (Tako-tsubo) Cardiomypathy.
Stress-induced (Tako-tsubo) cardiomyopathy presents acutely like myocardial infarction and the in-hospital mortality is comparable, yet coronary arteries appear normal. Understanding of the mechanisms underlying this condition lags behind that of other cardiovascular disorders and, consequently, no treatment exists for acute attacks or to prevent recurrences.
